Globalization has two contradicting effects. Firstly, an invasion of an alien culture threatening Indian traditional values, culture and economy. Secondary, opportunities for entrepreneurs and enterprising individuals have opened up at the international level. Indians have to stand up to the competition and face the challenges.

It is time; therefore, that new educational system evolves to prepare our children to, internationally, compete with their feet firm in our traditional values and culture with sensitivity to the social needs.

The Samsthe therefore wishes to pioneer into this new venture by establishing a residential school with CBSE/ICSE scheme to start with and develop into unique institutions of its own kind. A separate and detailed project is being prepared for the purpose.

An Academy for Performing Arts

With globalization and advancements in communication technologies ther seem to be an onslaught on our traditional cultural art forms.

Secondly, with steep increase in pressure of academics to cope with the galloping advances in the interest in our traditional art forms.

However, at the same time there seem to be an appreciation of our art form and cultural values at the global level. There appears a need for our cultural ambassadors to spread our traditional cultural systems internationally.

Therefore there is an acute need to develop a centre for performing art like traditional classical dance, music etc.

Sports Medicine Centre

With steep increase in sports participation and in intensity of training for competitive sports, injuries related to sports and abuses of drugs in sports have been on the rise mainly due to inadequate awareness.

Secondly, fitness consciousness among the elderly men and women is also on the rise resulting in the increased volume of fitness enthusiasts with inadequate knowledge of scientific principles of exercise, nutrition and dietetics.

Both situations need education in terms of consequences of improper exercising, inadequate nutrition and abuse of performance enhancing drugs to prevent the adverse effects. Additionally, there is a need for a clinic to assess, treat sports related injuries and rehabilitate the injured athlete in order to put him on track with least de-conditioning. The elderly, in case of injury, also need treatment and rehabilitation.

In order to do so the center needs to have a Sports medicine consultant, a full time Physiotherapist and few assistants.

Therefore there is a need to develop a Sports Medicine Centre with the modern physiotherapy equipment for assessment and treatment of sports injuries.

Children’s Sports Academy

An extension of the Sports Medicine Centre is a wing to offer coaching facilities. The Vyayama Shala has always been evincing keen interest in the coaching schemes in the country. They have actively co-operated with the District Sports Council as well.

The Regional Coaching Center was entrusted to us from 1969 to 1974. i.e., for full five years and we imparted training in Gymnastics, Basketball and Athletics to hundreds of youths. Of the three disciplines Gymnastics is still is continued, but without governmental involvement in any form. We has also been coaching the youth in’Body Building’ and ‘Weight Lifting’ With limited space available it is not possible to extend coaching services in all disciplines of sports. However, the Samsthe need not confine itself to select sports disciplines. Consultancy services may be extended to any sportsman who desire it.

A sports academy, apart from offering coaching service in select sports should also offer consultancy services and encourage research in competitive sports and health related physical fitness.

Therefore there is a felt need to establish a ‘Children Sports Academy’ to cater to the needs of aspiring in our part of the state.

Camping & Recreation Centre

Modern day life-style has resulted in increased stress. People under stress at times need a secluded retreat and a healthy past time to relieve of their stress. In the United Stated, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides Campsites for private family camping, where the families retreat and relax over weekends.

To complement our centre for Yoga and Stress Management and Education, a campsite centre is desired. Such a centre may be kept open to other agencies which desire to use it. However, the center will be set out on priority bases.

Further, if located in a forest area, the centre could be used as a base camp for trekking, which is an excellent past time for individuals of both gender and all ages.

The Samsthe, therefore, desire to develop a Camping-cum-Retreat centre in a nearby forest area.
